Asterousia Hybrid University confronts sustainability challenges in water management Participants explored integrated approaches to water resource management in South-East Europe during Phase B of the 2024–2025 Asterousia Hybrid University. 23 April 2025 From the rugged coastlines of the Mediterranean to the mountain ranges of South-East Europe, the region’s natural beauty masks an escalating crisis. Environmental degradation, climate change and biodiversity loss are placing severe pressure on already fragile terrestrial ecosystems. Sustainable development efforts are struggling to keep pace. To overcome these complex and interconnected challenges, effective governance and more efficient management at all levels are crucial.
